Background & Experience
Chantelle Crawford is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) in the states of Maryland. She has dedicated her life to providing exceptional mental health care, drawing from a rich tapestry of personal and professional experiences. Her educational journey began in the Baltimore Public Schools and culminated in a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, specializing in Urban Children, Youth, and Families, from Morgan State University. Chantelle's career path, which led her to the mental health field in 2013, included diverse roles such as Family Service Coordinator, Case Manager, and Admissions Intake Coordinator. These experiences provided her with a deep understanding of the multifaceted challenges individuals and families face, as well as the importance of accessible, comprehensive mental health support. Her extensive work with clients diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, PTSD, Depression, Grief/Loss, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia, including those with dual diagnoses involving substance abuse, has equipped her with the knowledge and empathy to support a wide range of clients. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, parents, and young adults. Chantelle's personal journey and professional expertise allows her to connect with her clients on a profound level, guiding them towards healing and growth with compassion and understanding.
Therapeutic Approach
Chantelle's therapeutic style is warm, engaging, and collaborative, prioritizing the creation of a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to share openly. Her life experiences have instilled in her a deep appreciation for the courage it takes to embark on a healing journey, and she considers herself a "supporting cast member" in her clients' "show." She recognizes that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, tailoring her approach to align with individual goals, cultural backgrounds, and belief systems. Chantelle's sessions are characterized by honesty and authenticity, incorporating humor and compassion alongside evidence-based practices. She draws from a variety of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Psychodynamic Therapy, selecting the most appropriate techniques based on each client's unique needs, strengths, and readiness for change. By integrating these diverse approaches and honoring her clients' individual journeys, Chantelle provides personalized and effective care that fosters lasting growth and well-being.
Unique Aspects & Philosophy
Chantelle's journey into the mental health field was deeply influenced by her personal experiences and a strong desire to support others on their healing paths. Her upbringing, marked by her father's absence and the unwavering support of her mother and grandparents, instilled in her a profound understanding of resilience and the importance of strong support systems. These early life experiences fueled her passion for helping others navigate life's challenges and fostered a deep sense of empathy for those facing similar struggles. During her MSW studies, an early exposure to the world of policy and Black excellence within social work at the Congressional Black Caucus ignited her passion further. Subsequently, she was selected for the prestigious Urban Women on the Rise Leadership Program, where she honed her leadership skills and connected with influential women in the field, solidifying her commitment to social work. As a testament to her commitment to excellence, Chantelle was elected President of the Phi Alpha Honor Society and graduated with honors. Chantelle's unique perspective as an African American woman and an older millennial allows her to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. She enjoys working with teens and adults. While she has experience with diverse clients, she is particularly passionate about serving the African American community, especially women and children impacted by intergenerational trauma, recognizing the critical need for culturally-competent mental health care within this demographic.
