Licensed: Maryland

Johanté Wood is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. Johanté completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University and received her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. During her time in graduate school, Johanté was inspired to expand her counseling expertise. She had the opportunity to receive supervision from a Psychologist in Baltimore, which allowed her to provide individual and couples counseling within a private practice. It was during this period that she discovered a profound passion for supporting teenagers and adults as they navigate life changes and challenges in their relationships. Johanté remembers the gratification of helping clients establish new connections with themselves and discovering new interests. Afterward, she continued her work by assisting various clients, including veterans, in outpatient, inpatient, mobile treatment, and teletherapy settings. In her practice, she has seen firsthand the positive and transformative effects of mental health therapy.

Therapeutic Approach

Johanté uses an eclectic approach to therapy which prioritizes the person-centered experience for her clients. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the foundation of her therapeutic approach. This approach equips you with valuable skills to effectively navigate through troubling thoughts and emotions, form meaningful relationships, and cultivate a sense of overall well-being. In addition, she incorporates elements of Interpersonal Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-based techniques to individualize treatment and support you in achieving your desired outcomes.

Whether it's transitions, conflicts, or feeling stuck, you may feel like your best efforts are not enough. The exhaustion from depression, loneliness, anxiety, or insecurity can leave you wanting change, even if you're unsure where to begin. But the good news is, you don't have to face this alone. Therapy can assist you in rediscovering your true self and serve as a strong starting point. As a therapist, Johanté is here to offer support and compassionate care tailored to your specific needs. Her therapy approach revolves around creating a safe and trusting environment, where you feel empowered to express your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Ultimately, her goal is to help you make meaningful shifts in your life, leading to greater peace, clarity, and personal growth.
