Margaret (Casey) Propheter is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University of Maryland and then pursued her Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from John Hopkins University. Casey has a strong desire to help others through hardships as well as learning more about human nature and behaviors. During her undergraduate internship, Casey had the opportunity to serve in a residential setting, catering to the needs of adolescent girls between the ages of 9-13. This experience not only honed her skills but also amplified her passion for working with children and teenagers. During her graduate program, she further broadened her expertise by interning at an Outpatient Mental Health Center. This enabled her to provide services to adults while continuing to work with children and adolescents. Casey has accumulated diverse experiences across various mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders. Casey's experience in the mental health field is complemented by her genuine passion and dedication to continuous learning and growth.

Therapeutic Approach

Casey's approach to therapy is deeply empathetic and open-minded, dedicated to cultivating an environment that is both supportive and inclusive. She employs Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral techniques, enriching these practices with additional evidence-based strategies for optimal care and treatment. Her approach is flexible, recognizing that therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. For younger clients, she extends the therapeutic process to include their families, offering a more holistic and robust support system. With adults, she provides them with necessary tools, insights, and support, empowering them to confidently navigate life challenges. She believes in the strength of human resilience and aims to empower her clients to tap into this inherent potential. By helping them navigate through their struggles, she aids them in cultivating coping mechanisms and resilience that will serve them not just in the present, but also in the future.

At the start, Casey adopts a comprehensive assessment, which provides a robust understanding of the client's history and the reasons that prompted them to seek therapy. She believes in the power of collaboration and active participation from her clients. She works hand-in-hand with them, setting clearly defined, measurable, and personalized goals. These goals serve as guideposts for the therapy journey. They are revisited and adjusted as necessary, allowing for flexibility and adaptability based on the client's progress and evolving needs. This approach ensures that therapy is not just about addressing immediate concerns, but also about fostering long-term growth and resilience. This allows her to create a tailored approach that meets each client where they are in their unique healing journey.

Casey's therapeutic space is secure and non-judgmental, allowing individuals to express themselves freely, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and validation. She understands that taking the first step towards therapy can be daunting for many, and so she endeavors to make this journey less intimidating by fostering an atmosphere of trust and open communication. With Casey, clients can expect a holistic approach to therapy that caters to their unique needs and ensures their path towards better mental health.
