Carlee Myers is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) able to serve clients based in Maryland and the District of Columbia (DC). She began her journey into the mental health field as an undergraduate student at Florida State University (FSU), where she achieved dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Criminology. Her experiences in advocacy and volunteering at FSU sparked a strong interest to further her education, leading Carlee to obtain a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. This program afforded her the opportunity to engage in specialized coursework, focusing on the fundamentals of trauma. It encompassed counseling approaches for victims of violence, individuals in crisis situations, and working with families. During her undergraduate years, Carlee devoted her time to volunteering as a crisis counselor at The National Suicide Prevention Hotline. Her dedication and hard work led to her full-time employment as the agency's lead Maternal Mental Health Counselor. In this role, she provided invaluable emotional support and crucial information to clients dealing with pregnancy and postpartum concerns. Beyond her work at the hotline, Carlee undertook an internship at a local DV/SV shelter in Florida. Here, she stood as a pillar of strength for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Following the completion of her internship, she remained with the agency as a part-time advocate. She offered comprehensive support to survivors of sexual assault, providing advocacy services, crisis counseling, emotional backing, and information regarding victims’ rights and forensic examinations. These experiences ignited Carlee's passion for mental health care and fueled her determination to continue aiding people during their most trying times in life. Her journey stands as testament to her commitment to uplift those in need.

Carlee is a deeply empathetic and dedicated mental health therapist, specializing in empowering individuals to surmount personal challenges and achieve meaningful growth. She has honed her skills and crafted a distinctive therapeutic style rooted in a trauma-informed and integrative framework. She selects methodologies and techniques that are uniquely tailored to her clients' needs. Drawing from comprehensive training in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS-Informed), CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Feminist/empowerment-based therapy, Carlee provides a customized approach to therapy. Carlee primarily works with adolescents and adults to enhance their overall well-being and personal development. Fueled by a passion for making a difference, Carlee excels in assisting individuals who are seeking therapy for past trauma, domestic and sexual violence, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. She is committed to guiding her clients on their path to healing, empowering them to regain control and thrive in their lives.

Carlee views the world and interacts with her clients through a trauma-informed lens, creating an environment that encourages clients to be open about all aspects of themselves, including those they often find shameful or frightening. At the onset of therapy, Carlee might assist a client in developing effective coping strategies, self-care routines, boundary-setting techniques, or communication tools. Alternatively, she may focus on equipping a client with new skills for managing interpersonal conflict, emotional regulation, or distress tolerance. Once a client has gained the confidence and tools needed to manage their concerns, Carlee guides the client on a deeper journey of exploration. This could involve delving into underlying traumas, painful childhood experiences, traumatic memories, entrenched core beliefs, or insecure attachments in relationships. This is the profound work that frequently lies at the heart of the clients' concerns.

She understands that each individual's journey is unique, and as such, requires a tailored plan of action. Carlee cultivates an environment of trust and respect, where her clients feel safe to express themselves without fear of judgment. Carlee's commitment to her work goes beyond the confines of her therapy sessions. She continuously updates her knowledge and skills through advanced training and research, ensuring she remains at the forefront of therapeutic practices. This dedication to her craft, coupled with her natural empathy and understanding, allows her to provide unparalleled support to her clients.
